Dr Ishwar Parulkar

Speaker Bio

Dr. Ishwar Parulkar is the Chief Technologist for Industries at Amazon Web Services. In this role he is responsible for setting cloud and AI technology strategy, and defining new services and solutions specific to communications, media & entertainment, games, sports and Ads, and other industries. Prior to AWS, Dr. Parulkar was in various technology leadership roles. As the Chief Architect for telecom business unit at Cisco, he was responsible for a portfolio of telecom routers, packet core, small cells and orchestration, automation technology. Before Cisco, he was a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems involved in leading industry technology shifts - the first multi-core processor systems and first compute virtualization platforms. He started his career at Apple, working on personal computers and devices. Dr. Parulkar holds an M.S. from Vanderbilt University and a Ph.D. from University of Southern California. In 2017, Dr. Parulkar was elected a Foreign Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.
